Summer’s winding down, and I hope everyone’s enjoying time with family and friends. Our Coalition9 Community is gearing up for the Summer Social at CHS Field—just a week away! The event is sold out, but you can join the waitlist on Eventbrite. More info on that below.

For those registered, expect a ticket confirmation email by the end of the week. Please review it carefully and contact Emily Anderson at emily@coalition9.com by Monday, August 19, 2024 if your availability has changed. We will give your ticket to a C9 Member on our waitlist.

Member Joe Montgomery from Dominant Creative and Growth Kick LLC also serves on the Board of Directors for the Japan America Society of Minnesota (JASM). JASM has been supporting Japan-Minnesota connections for over 50 years. In collaboration with Como Park, JASM puts on the popular Obon Festival at Como Park, which will be held on Sunday, August 18 from 3 PM to sundown. Member Abe Demmaj from Grassroots Real Estate Development and Abyssinia Cultural Center announced that his latest development project, the Unity Building, is officially underway after the successful closing on July 8, 2024. 401-405 E Lake Street in Minneapolis is slated for demolition and reconstruction, a process which will result in a 4-story mixed-use commercial building. This project was recently featured in LISC Twin Cities’ newsletter. Read more about this exciting project here

Member Matt Schwandt, co-founder and president of Bauhaus Brew Labs, a pioneering craft brewery and taproom in Northeast Minneapolis, is set to re-enter the legal arena this September. Having recently secured an attorney position in the Corporate & Securities group at Maslon, LLP, Matt is eager to channel the extensive entrepreneurial acumen and strategic insight he's garnered over a decade into his new role, offering tailored legal solutions to closely held businesses. Matt intends to focus his practice on serving clients in the food, beverage, hospitality, and cannabis industries. We’re rooting for you, Matt!
Julie Keyes recently featured C9 Member and Community Supporter Scott Seiler from Seiler Law on her podcast, Poised for Exit. Together, they explore the important topics of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) and Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI). Their conversation serves as a valuable guide for business owners looking to understand and comply with these new regulations. Listen to the podcast here
Member and Community Supporter James Olsen from Seiler Law announced that a movie, Sketch, that he did some copyright clearance work on just got accepted to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Starring Tony Hale and D'Arcy Carden, Sketch is reminiscent of classics like Gremlins, Jumanji, and The Goonies, with a great cast of kids. The film was written and directed by Seth Worley. The second annual Fractional Conference will be held October 21-22, 2024 at Finnovation Lab in Minneapolis. Several C9 facilitators are involved in the event: Liz Otteson and Katie Walter are leaders on the organizing committee, and Summer Miller and Avi Olitzky are speaking. Member Corey Falls from Mytech Partners announced that the Edina Rotary Foundation is accepting applications for its annual local grants. The deadline for grant applications is October 31, 2024, and winners will be announced in spring of 2025. The project should benefit one or more of the areas of focus noted in this guidelines PDF. August SPARK Event - C9 Summer Social at CHS Field

This event is SOLD OUT!!! To join our waitlist on Eventbrite, use the registration link in the email invite and click the “Join waitlist” button on the Eventbrite page to fill out the form. A member of the C9 Team will contact you by email if spots become available.

Attendees: We have reserved the Treasure Island Terrace at CHS Field, which is a private space dedicated to the C9 Community for enjoying hosted food + beverages, baseball, and building relationships with other C9ers and guests.

The Saints are scheduled to play the Scranton Wilkes Barre RailRiders on the day of our event. The game starts at 7:07 PM, but join us from 5:30 to 7 PM for a meal and good company.

Sleep doctor Snigdha Pusalavidyasagar, MD FAASM, will talk about the role sleep plays in our health, how to create better habits, and tips for optimizing our sleep.

About the Instructor

Snigdhasmrithi Pusalavidyasagar, MD, is a sleep medicine physician. She is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Learn more

July C9 Well Event Recap

Celebrating another incredible C9 Well event! We met at the charming Nina's Coffee Cafe for a morning beverage before we started our trek.

Our first Walk + Talk brought together Coalition9 Members to explore the Cathedral Hill area in St. Paul while sneaking in some light exercise and getting to know other Members.

We lucked out and got a beautiful summer day. Everyone enjoyed getting together to build relationships and put some miles on our walking shoes.👟

We'll definitely be doing one of these again!
