Founder Message
Greetings, C9 Members and friends—
November is a time for reflection, both personally and professionally—a season for mindful ideation, gratitude, and cherishing the relationships we've built together.
As many of you know, we recently lost Tom Hart, a dear friend and valued Member, who passed away at the end of October. We all wish we had more time with him. Let's honor Tom by keeping his kindness, generosity, and passion for learning alive in our hearts and finding comfort in our C9 Community.
Curiosity and a focus on the “why” are central to our strategic planning for the coming year. Our top priority, as always, is to deliver an exceptional Member experience while positively impacting our close-knit C9 Community and beyond. We’re developing strategies to deepen our C9 Community connections and make an even greater impact through broader community engagement and philanthropy in 2025.
Our events have only grown in popularity, and our goal is to have the first six months of the 2025 SPARK and C9 Well event calendar scheduled by year-end.
We’re excited to announce the launch of our 2025 C9 Community Supporter program—details are below, and I’d love to connect if you’re interested in getting involved.
I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built at Coalition9 and how we’ve grown and strengthened relationships in the Community over the last year. To our Members, Community Supporters, C9 team, Event Partners and Supporters, and everyone cheering us on—thank you. I’m grateful for each of you and all that you do.

Give to the Max is November 21, 2024 and is MN's largest day of giving. Member Mark Ostrom asks that you consider supporting Joy Collaborative, which is changing lives for kids in MN, in your GTMD donation or year-end contributions. It all makes a difference and will help the nonprofit grow. If a financial gift is not in the cards for you, consider getting involved with your own time and talent. Member Robin Edgar from Wealth Progression Group announced that their next “Wealth and Wisdom: Unlocking Financial Confidence” workshops will be held on Tuesday, November 26 from 3:30 to 5 PM at their St. Louis Park location. Member Heather Heefner from Dart Communication announced that her article “Conflict At Work? Try The Productive Communication Cycle” was published in Forbes Magazine! Congrats, Heather! Read the article
Member Reed Robinson from Groove Capital was named a 2024 Dealmakers of the Year Honoree by The Smart Business Dealmakers. The award recognizes exceptional individuals in Minneapolis who are engaged in M&A activity. Congratulations, Reed! Learn more
Member Dustin Bruzenak from Modern Logic announced that they are launching a new consulting product this month focused on managed software. They worked with another C9 Member, Jason Sprenger of Game Changer Communications, to hone their messaging around a new category focused on maintaining and improving custom software, and already closed two new clients. We love hearing about C9 Members teaming up!
Community Supporter Mason Jar Marketing and Members Erin Mason and Lauren St. Martin announced that Mason Jar Marketing is celebrating 11 years in business this month. Happy Birthday from Coalition9!
Member Khalique Rogers from Catalyst for Systems Change announced that their Changemakers Program 2nd annual Youth Policy Forum will be on Saturday, November 23, 2024 10 AM to 3 PM in the Minnesota House Chamber at the Minnesota State Capitol. This event invites youth and young adults (ages 16–22) to discuss key issues with legislators, providing a platform to voice their priorities. To ensure all youth can participate, they are seeking sponsorships between $100–$1,000 to cover transportation, meals, and stipends. St. Paul Public Schools and the RightTrack program are looking to place high school students in internship positions in the spring. They would love to set up a time this fall to come talk to whoever is interested. Contact both Kristine Somerville (kristine.somerville@spps.org) and Nardos Tesfalidet (nardos.tesfalidet@ci.stpaul.mn.us) to learn more and get the process started.

With Deep Sadness, We Announce the Passing of C9 Member Tom Hart
We’re saddened to share that Member Tom Hart (Thomas John Brossart) passed away on October 30, 2024. He struggled bravely with depression for years, and despite his courage and the support of those around him, he has left us far too soon. During this time, we encourage you to lean on each other and share memories that remind us of Tom’s positive impact.
Tom was known for his humor, curiosity, and his ability to help others focus on their well-being. He touched the lives of so many of us and will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and vulnerability.
Please keep Tom and his family in your thoughts during this difficult time. For those who wish to send messages of support or condolences to Tom's family, you can do so through his Star Tribune obituary, his Mueller Memorial page, or his family's GoFundMe page.
Tom will be dearly missed, and his legacy will remain a part of Coalition9.

October Coalition9 Community Appreciation Event Recap
We had another amazing C9 Community Appreciation Event at LuceLine Orchard🍎 in October—it was a little chilly, but that’s why there’s hot apple cider!
It was incredible to see C9 Members, group facilitators, Community Supporters, Event Partners + Supporters, and their families enjoying all the autumn fun, deepening connections, and making new friends.
